Red Balloon of the Air Careers and Transitions

Careers at RBAir

We have an individualised, bespoke careers programme here at Red Balloon of the Air, that links to the Preparation for Adulthood agenda, understands the Gatsby criteria and is evident across our curriculum.

We provide careers guidance and advice around education, employment and training to our students and their families, in an impartial manner. This enables students to make informed choices about a broad range of career options and helps to encourage them to fulfil their potential.

Individual Needs

We recognise that students who have come to Red Balloon of the Air have not travelled an easy route to get here, mainstream education has not always been suitable due to a variety of reasons and therefore the qualifications that students have gained or gain with us are even more worthwhile.

We aim to develop students’ communication and social skills so that they have the confidence to access services and provisions in the future. So matching those successes with suitable pathways is incredibly important for us. We do this by developing a provision that links to individual needs, interests, skills and learning pathways, giving students opportunities to try and experience a range of new and exciting activities.

We do all we can to ensure a skilful, knowledgeable and confident young person leaves Red Balloon of the Air, ready to face any challenges that may be thrown at them!

Our Careers Hub

Students can access our Careers Hub for careers spotlights, work experience opportunities and successes, and information on next-step pathways. They learn about careers in lessons and with their Link Mentors, who also guide them on suitable pathways supported by our SEND team. Please also see links here on the website.

Our Careers Platform

Our Careers Platform (Morrisby) allows a bespoke view of possibilities open to students and our Careers and Transitions Coaches work one-to-one with students to discuss and pave out possible future pathways. They can also attend annual reviews and assist with the EHCP process.
