Worthing Updates
The academic year is finished and what a year it’s been! We had our first successful Ofsted inspection, our first cohort of Year 11 learners sitting exams, a full range of trips, and more! This has been an extremely successful year for our learners, and they have acquired many new skills and passions!
Summer Fair
Our learners created a range of stalls for the Summer Fair including hook a duck, tombola, jewellery, cakes and hot dogs. The most popular stall was throwing the wet sponge at a member of staff! Learners also raised over £200 by selling their amazing artwork at a silent art auction.
Out and About
Some of our older learners chose to improve their golf swings and play a round of adventure golf, whilst others took to the climbing ropes. Learners were also given tennis coaching and then played each other in a closely-fought tournament. We had so much fun getting out and being active!
We also visited the site where the Repair Shop is filmed, and the Weald and Downland Museum. We learned so much about houses through the ages.
We were also able to collaborate with Slindon College to provide forest and beach school experiences. Learners put their skills to use during a fantastic day out at the Wetlands Centre. They took a boat trip around the marshes and tested the water quality in the pond. This year, learners also participated in a beekeeping experience and a rap workshop.
In the Centre
Interior Design
Learners have been designing a mural and creating models of how they wish rooms in the Centre to be redecorated.
Creative Writing
We are extremely proud of one of our learners who had their poem published in a poetry book after winning a national poetry competition.
Goodbye Year 11
We held a pizza lunch to say well done to our Year 11 learners who sat their exams this summer. They all went on to undertake work experience for two weeks in June. We are so proud of them!
Thank You!
We would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who have given their time so generously to support the Centre and learners this year. Special mention should go to Hilary who stepped in to teach Maths this year as well as offering piano lessons. Thanks to all parents/carers for your continued support. We wish you a peaceful and restful summer break!
