Hours: Casual contract. Candidates must be available for casual work over the main summer exam period during May and June this year. Ad hoc work may be available at other times during the school year.

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Red Balloon Learner Centre, Cambridge is recruiting for an Exam Invigilator to support students across our two Learner Centres in Cambridge.

This is a casual appointment to provide exam invigilation for the main exam period during the summer term and potentially on an ad hoc basis throughout the school year, as required. Please note: the main summer exam period for summer runs during May and June 2024.

We work with young people aged 11 to 18 who have been severely bullied and/or experience high levels of anxiety about attending school. We provide a safe environment with clear boundaries for behaviour, and an individual full-time academic, pastoral and therapeutic programme. Once students have regained their confidence and are able to cope academically and socially, we support their return to mainstream school or college or into employment. It is important that the jobholder concurs with this aim.

Experience of invigilation is not required as training in the role and duties of an invigilator will be provided.

An ideal candidate will:

-be reliable, flexible and readily available during main examination periods.

-have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills.

-work well as part of a team.

-be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in examination rooms.

-be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people.

-have basic IT skills.

-seek to achieve competence in the role and a rigorous understanding of the JCQ regulations.

– be committed to supporting our aims and ethos and working as a member of the Red Balloon community.
