Red Balloon Norwich was visited this week by the Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for Norwich South.

PC Terry Chambers and PC David Baxter (pictured) spoke with the pupils and staff about potential issues in our communities, how to avoid them/ what to do about them. They began by explaining the local situation around county lines/cuckooing, and how vulnerable people can be drawn into it. They talked about online safety and controls and permissions that we have available. They discussed how policing has changed now to be much more online crime or with elements of technology involved. They explained some common pitfalls and things to watch out for in our social media and communications tools.
Lastly, they mentioned some of the anti-terrorism training they regularly go through.

We were shown all the gear that police carry around in their body vests, especially their tasers. Despite some pupils’ suggestions, no tasers were demonstrated during the visit!
