Norfolk and Norwich – two Centres in one city

You may have seen we have a second Centre opening in the city of Norwich. Here’s some key information about our two Centres supporting young people across Norfolk.

An introduction

Red Balloon Norwich, which opened in 2006, moved location in 2022 and is currently located on Drayton Road.

Red Balloon Educational Trust Norfolk (RBET – Norfolk) is relaunching our Earlham Road site as a new Centre, which will open in Autumn 2023 to help meet some of the demand in the area.

Both Centres will be supporting young people in the Norfolk area, but are separate charities, have different management teams and operate as separate entities. Students will be registered with a single Centre and will attend specifically at that Centre, rest assured they won’t be swapping between sites or staff teams as part of their provision.

Growing need for Red Balloon

So why two Centres in the same city?

After the pandemic, a record number of young people are struggling to attend school and access an education that meets their needs. We’re seeing demand rise for our services across the UK, and Norfolk has a growing number of students in need of support.

With just one Centre in the area, we couldn’t possibly provide enough spaces for all the students who need us, so we’re opening a second Centre to create an extra 20 student places.
