National Mentoring Month
Mentoring Month is dedicated to focusing on the positive impact that mentoring can have on both the mentor and mentee. Mentoring plays a large role in our Red Balloon of the Air provision and is one of the key aspects that makes us so unique.
All of our young people are allocated a mentor, who becomes integral to all parts of their education, being the link between academic learning, well-being and social re-engagement.
Mentors are afforded the privilege to share in a young persons journey at RBAir, supporting them to access learning and the wider world. This might be spending time outside of the house, visiting a cafe, going on the bus, visiting places of interest or doing some art and craft at our centre or at their home. The role is so varied but very much responds to the needs of each individual young person and they are at the heart of all that we do.
As a mentor, we can see the changes and the positive steps forward that our young people make over time. It is a very rewarding role and one that is flexible, adaptable and creative.
