Students at Red Balloon are celebrating another great set of exam results today. Across Red Balloon over 38 students entered GCSE and other qualifications this year. In Maths and Statistics 70% of students achieved grades 4-9, in English subjects 75% of students achieved grades 4-9, and an amazing 100% received grades 4-9 in History, Textiles and Food Technology!
We’ve seen equally fantastic things in our non-GCSE exams; with an incredible 94% rate for students taking qualifications such as BTecs, Maths awards, and functional skills across all sorts of subjects. Our total pass rate across all exams was a whopping 70.8%.
As always, we’re not expecting all our students to be getting 9s in every subject – to many of our young people even the thought of taking ANY exams was out of the question before they joined us, let alone GCSEs. We’ve seen some incredible progress and some amazing achievements. Whether it’s the young person with 6-9s in 5 subjects, or the young people who really challenged themselves and sat Maths and English GCSEs not expecting to manage any grades all and then smashed it and got 3s, we couldn’t be prouder of our young people. From English, Maths and Science to Art awards and project qualifications, students have been making strides!

While we know that exam results are important, At Red Balloon, we recognise the journeys that many of our young people have been on have been difficult. They have overcome tremendous obstacles to make progress. Some students were not even able to leave their homes when they first started with us, and are now able to sit exams. It’s incredible to watch their confidence grow!
