Location: Cambridge

Hours: The position is part time – three to four days a week (to be negotiated). (24 to 32 hours a week based on a full time week of 40 hours).

Salary: Salary from £26,000 pro rata depending on experience.

Role:

The purpose of this role is to work with a range of students from 11 to 18 years old, helping them come to terms with and manage a range of emotional, social or mental health issues. This role will make you a key part of the team to support the young people to feel safe in the environment, build stronger connections with friends & family, manage life stressors and adjust to major changes.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

As a member of the therapy team:

Provide weekly counseling sessions to the students.
Provide information, advice and guidance to the students and their families on emotional and mental well-being.
Assess students, considering their mental health state, contextual factors, and capacity to understand and engage with the therapeutic process, both within the therapy session and in the broader therapeutic community.
Contribute, within the therapeutic rules of confidentiality, to the information sharing both within the school and with third parties from education, health, social work and Third Sector organisations.
Provide advice to professionals across other sectors regarding the emotional support of the students.
Co-lead half termly peer support groups.
Meet regularly with the coordinator to discuss individual cases.

To be considered for this role you will need:

-Diploma or higher qualifications in counselling/psychotherapy (essential)
– Accreditation/Registration with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP, UKCP or other relevant professional body (essential)
– Evidence of training and continuous professional development (essential)
– Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience of providing individual counselling or psychotherapy (desirable)
