Location: Must be commutable to our centre in Cambridge for induction and training; some remote working a possibility after the induction period

Hours: 24 hours (3 days – flexible) in the first instance, with the possibility of an increase in Jan 2022

Salary: £21,848 – £26,530 pro rata

Red Balloon of the Air is an award-winning charity that operates a leading-edge virtual learner centre. We offer academic, wellbeing and community support to transform the lives of students (aged 9-18 years) who want to learn but have had low rates of attendance at school due to high anxiety, severe bullying, trauma or chronic stress.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative teacher of Psychology and at least one science subject to deliver live lessons online, 1:1 and in small groups. This permanent position is perfect for an experienced teacher who is looking for a flexible and rewarding alternative to mainstream education within an innovative and supportive workplace.

You will work in partnership with the Science Lead, department colleagues, and the wider RBAir team to deliver the role objectives. As the provision continues to expand there are progression opportunities.

What you will need to succeed

  • A teaching qualification (e.g. QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
  • 2 years+ teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching students with SEN desirable
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal and online
  • Excellent curriculum knowledge
  • A creative, flexible and collaborative approach to teaching and learning
  • Understanding of adolescent development, trauma, bullying and its effects
