Location: Milton, Cambridge

Hours: Term Time Only, 32 Hours per week over 4 days, flexible start times

Salary: £19,000 – £21,000 Depending on Experience (Salary paid equally over 12 months)

Effective Date: 19th September 2022

This is a diverse role with the opportunity to get involved in many different areas of the IT arena, so if you are keen to get stuck in, learn on the go, and would love 59 days holiday a year due to us being term time only, this is the role for you!

Red Balloon Educational Trust Central Services support our educational Centres across the UK with all their technical requirements. Our biggest provision is online learning, meaning lots of devices in and out the door on a regular basis, we currently have approximately 125 users and 200 endpoints that we support. We are looking for an IT Support Assistant who has a genuine interest in working within IT and supporting end users. Maybe you have studied IT or Computer Science, maybe you have a passion for tech and enjoy building computers in your spare time?

We are growing as an organisation so there is the opportunity to create a career path through training and development, as new Centres open, the team will need to grow, so be it technical development, leadership development or both we can support you.

Key responsibilities:

  • Test and fix faulty equipment
  • Set-up up new software and peripherals for staff or students, and new equipment or systems for the office;
  • Help staff and students who are having technical difficulties by communicating in non-technical language;
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of staff and students in the use of IT systems, software, and hardware;

To be considered for this role as a minimum you will need:

  • The equivalent of GCSE Maths and English at grade C/grade 4 or above
  • Knowledge of common hardware and software components, peripherals and functions
  • Experience with the Google Suite is desirable
  • Windows PC use and basic troubleshooting/maintenance
  • Interest and enthusiasm in technology and its application in an online learning environment
