Role Summary

  • Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship;
  • Commitment to Red Balloon’s objects, aims and values;
  • Willingness to devote time to carry out responsibilities including approximately 5-6 days of work per school term;
  • Oversee the financial health of the charity, ensuring that Red Balloon has sound systems of internal control and risk management;
  • Responsibility for preparation and maintenance of accounts and budgets including ongoing monitoring of the financial standing of the charity;
  • Report to the Board regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources;
  • Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the board of trustees at regular intervals;
  • Act as a second authority on electronic payments, counter signatory on cheques and, as required, applications to funders and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion;
  • Liaising with external auditors, Red Balloon Group and local centres and other external authorities on financial issues, as required
  • Ensuring that the RBC’s finances are responsibly managed/invested for the betterment of the RBC’s work and for the beneficiaries it serves.
